The Cricketer is excited to reveal the first new sponsor of next year’s National Village Cup. Marshall Wooldridge, who are the accredited broker for the England & Wales Cricket Board Extracover Insurance scheme, will be known as the official insurance broker of the Davidstow Village Cup 2016.

Yorkshire-based independent brokers Marshall Wooldridge have been providing all-round cover for cricket clubs, associations, boards and leagues since 1973. Director Richard Sykes is delighted to be associated with the National Village Cup, commenting: “We have been working in grassroots cricket for more than 40 years and this community-based competition is a natural fit for us. We’ve heard a lot about it and will be following the teams closely as they battle for a coveted place in the final at Lord’s. While insurance might not be at the forefront of players’ minds, it is an essential requirement for all of the clubs involved and we’ll be delighted to answer any questions they may have.”

Jim Hindson, a director at The Cricketer, said: “It is fantastic to have Marshall Wooldridge on board, supporting this prestigious competition. Their specialist knowledge and expertise will be a genuine reassurance to all the clubs involved, and we look forward to working together in 2016.”

Marshall Wooldridge adds its name to that of Durant Cricket,  Owzat-Cricket and TM Lewin as official sponsors, and Dairy Crest-owned Cornish cheddar giant Davidstow, who are headline sponsors of the competition until 2016.
